Committee Member Grahek wants <br />assurance that City retains the authority to approve or disapprove similar request in the <br />future. Mr Nick Twohy out-going committee member stopped by to thank the committee for <br />their hospitality and warm welcome. Mr Twohy is leaving the Parks and Recreation <br />Committee to join the Centerville Planning and Zoning Committee. He was with Parks <br /> <br />and Rec for one year. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />IV. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Grahek, seconded by Committee Member <br />Petersen to approve the August, 2014 minutes with the following corrections: Page 4. <br />paragraph 2 Movies in the Park change the time from 7:15 to 7:30. <br /> <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Nomination for Chair and Vice Chair. Chairperson Branch announced that he <br />was vacating the Committee Chairman position affect with this September 3 meeting <br />and would be resigning from the committee effective after the October 2014 meeting. <br />Committee Member Grahek was nominated and elected to the position on Committee <br />Chairperson. In his absence, Committee Member Waeghe was selected to be the Vice- <br />Chairperson contingent upon his concurrence. Committee member Branch will contact <br />Committee Member Waeghe. <br /> <br />2.Special Event Permit - Cub Scout Pack 232 requested permission to use Laurie LaMotte <br />Memorial Park for the annual rocket launch. The Committee concurs and recommends <br />City Council approval. <br />3. <br />Tree Maintenance: Committee members have noticed that the trees in Hidden Spring <br />Park need to be trimmed. This is a major undertaking and should be done following the <br />guidance of an arborist. The trim of trees in Eagle park has been a continuing challenge <br />for several years. Public Works summer hires have repeatedly tried to correct the <br />problems in Eagle Park. An arborist services are need here as well. After discussion, <br />P&R Committee recommends that while determining the 2015 budget, the City <br />the <br />Council should create a budget item for the maintenance of park trees. <br /> Committee Membership: <br />4.
