We believe that agreement, coupled with recent efforts at <br /> the Met Council and DNR, will likely have significant impacts on communities in the Northeast <br /> Metro. <br /> Is it likely that the state legislature will soon be asked to implement measures that will result in <br /> the creation of a new regional water supply system that communities may be required to connect <br /> to. Our local legislators have encouraged us to meet with other elected officials in the area to <br /> determine if there is a shared position on these topics. <br /> Most of us know each other as members of the 1-35 W/E coalition, which was a unified group of <br /> elected officials that found success in securing federal funding for important interchange and <br /> highway improvements in our area. I am proposing a similar group be formed to discuss <br /> important water supply issues facing our communities. <br /> There is some urgency to this discussion, as the legislature is already in session. I am personally <br /> inviting you to join me in a NE metro "water summit"to be held at Hugo City Hall on January <br /> 29`h at 7pm. <br /> Attached is a copy of the settlement agreement for your review, and a list of those I am inviting <br /> to this meeting. If you think others should attend,please feel free to invite them.
