Suburban policing is predominantly service oriented, and the department prides itself on the
quality and variety of services it provides. We are, almost always, the first arriving responder on
medical incidents. We open doors for those locked out of their vehicles at no charge. Nor do we
charge for false alarms. Our officers take pride in their relationships with the communities they
serve and regularly "embed" themselves in the communities. They are known on both a
professional and personal level.
The department embraces both the community and problem oriented approaches to policing.
Stakeholders actively participate in the direction of targeted police services which improves end
user satisfaction and results in the reduction if not prevention of crime. Our officers are assigned
to specific communities and/or geographic areas to address their specific needs in advance of
problems. For example, officers attend board, periodic and annual meetings of multiple
townhome and condominium associations, are designated as "liaisons" to Golden Lake
Elementary School and the Centennial Area Learning Center, work with the Rice Creek Trail
Association to enhance snowmobile operator safety and minimize resident complaints, work with
neighborhood groups to enforce quality of life and other property-value maintaining ordinances
against non-compliant properties, and address issues of particular relevance to our senior citizen
residences.
Circle Pines is a safe community where citizen needs and police services delivered are
interactive and symbiotic. The relationship between the citizens and the police is a strong one
and pride abounds. The department and I are both committed to enhancing this relationship and
welcome your suggestions and participation. Thank you.
A
l
Circle Pines City Hall
&nknniA(APa1es 906M Vepartment 12014 ANNUAL REPORT
