On May 5t', <br /> 1950, an election of settlers was held to incorporate <br /> the city. The city's name and history rests in the <br /> honor of the battalion of one man instrumental in <br /> r organizing the petition for the new village <br /> y (information provided by the city of Lexington's <br /> t website, (http://www.ci.lexinton.mn.usThis <br /> small northern suburb of the Twin Cities is just a <br /> little under one (1) square mile and is home to <br /> approximately 2,049 residents (according to the 2010 <br /> U.S. Census Bureau). The small suburban junction is <br /> unique to many in that it is part of a Joint Powers <br /> Agreement with its police department that serves the <br /> n citizens of three tightly knit communities including <br /> Sergeant Kris Carlson Centerville and Circle Pines. <br /> Lexington is one city amongst four others located in the Centennial School District (ISD 12) <br /> which serves approximately 6,300 students in nine (9) schools ranging from elementary to high <br /> school. Centennial School District boasts a graduation rate in the top of its class at 99% and <br /> continually scores higher than the state average in math and reading. Students from all cities <br /> including Lexington enjoy a number of academic and sporting activities while receiving a high <br /> class education. <br /> Lexington is host to a variety of businesses, retail <br /> shops, restaurants and nightlife.
