In the city of Lexington, Lexington Memorial Park rests just beyond the reaches of the Parkview
Mobile Home Community. Lexington Memorial Park is the city's hub for the area's Little
Leaguers during the summer baseball season. During the season, a number of tournaments,
games, and gatherings take place on any one or all five (5) of the ball fields throughout the park.
And to provide entertainment for the kids not playing any sports or to provide daycare
entertainment and relief during "field trips" throughout the year, there's a playground area in the
center of the park. There's year-round recreation available at the park for citizens to enjoy and
relax with family, friends and neighbors.
+t1. gat
------------------
'b g
Centennial Lakes Police Department has been the city's local law enforcement since 1954, when
Joseph Matzke became the first Lexington Police Officer. The first Joint Powers Agreement
between cities occurred in 1975 when Circle Pines Police Department and Lexington Police
Department joined forces and was governed by a commission rather than city council(s). On
January 1St, 2000, the three cities of Centerville, Circle Pines, and Lexington joined together to
form the newly established Centennial Lakes Police Department which serves as one of the
state's rare joint law enforcement agencies (facts from the department's history section at
http://www.centenniallakespd.govoffice2.com/).
Since that time, the department and its officers have worked hard to provide the most effective
and efficient police services applying the tools of both Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.)
and Problem Oriented Policing (P.O.P) to work alongside the community to solve neighborhood
issues and crimes, and to integrate local law enforcement into the communities they serve. This
concept of C.O.P. and P.O.P. allows the Centennial Lakes Police Department to proactively
approach a variety of events, incidents, and situations, and establishes working relationships with
citizens and businesses that have been an integral part of such a close community.
ce"fe""Ifi(AAf4p1'POf10E aPlat menf 12014 ANNUAL REPORT
