Investw" at w"' ns
The investigations division remained a strong resource for
the citizens of Circle Pines, Lexington, and Centerville in
t 2014. Working closely with agencies and personnel
throughout the county and state, Detective Carlson
' followed up on, investigated, and assisted with major cases
that originated in the jurisdiction of the Centennial Lakes
Police Department.
Collaboration is important to the success of any
investigation, and Detective Carlson maintained and
continued to build strong relationships with the Anoka
County Criminal Investigation Division, and numerous
detectives and investigators throughout Anoka County and
the metro area. It is these relationships that helped
Detective Carlson work effectively in the community to
Detective Bill Jacobson solve or clear a majority of cases that he worked on.
In 2014, CLPD investigations handled 108 cases. Most of these cases were retained by CLPD
and 72% of them were cleared. This case load is down five from 2014, but does not include
cases in which Detective Carlson merely consulted on with patrol or other detectives. The
majority of cases were cleared by arrest. A total of 12 cases were forwarded to other agencies.
Only 18 cases were marked as inactive due to a lack of suspects or leads. The following are
some of the other statistics for 2014:
- CLPD investigated 20 larceny/theft cases in 2014
- CLPD investigated 18 assaults or aggravated assaults in 2014
- CLPD investigated 10 burglaries in 2014
- CLPD investigated 10 narcotics crimes in 2014
- CLPD investigated 4 death or suicide scenes in 2014
- CLPD investigated 1 forcible rape in 2014
- There were no homicides or arson cases that had been initiated or followed up on
within Centennial Lakes Police Department in 2014
Other duties of the CLPD investigations included assisting patrol with basic investigations and
follow up, reviewing national, state, and local informational alerts and passing on relevant
information to CLPD patrol and administration, completing numerous employment background
checks for new CLPD hires and other city staff, completing background checks for various city
permits, and other duties as needed or directed.
Ge'nfeMnA(44[0s Police Veparbned 12014 ANNUAL REPORT
