City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 22, 2015 <br />Attorney Glaser desired to express his appreciation to Captain Nelson for the years of service <br />and wished him well in his new career endeavor. <br />Engineer Statz provided Council with an update on the CSAH21/Centerville Road project by <br />stating that they are currently placing sod and seed, have installed the trail and anticipate the <br />wear course pavement being placed by the first week of August (weather dependent). He also <br />stated that the intersection of Heritage and Centerville would be the milled down and receive <br />fresh asphalt near the end of the project. Mayor Wilharber commented that the new sod, <br />roadway and lack of ditches look and work well. <br />Council Member King desired to thank the Centerville Lions for honoring/monitoring the bass <br />guitar levels of the band that played for their Fete des Lacs celebration. Discussion ensued <br />regarding the power outages that were experienced due to the storm and how it affected the <br />tournaments. <br />Council Member Fehrenbacher stated that the recent Centennial Lakes Police Commission they <br />discussed their 2016 Proposed Budget which would increase by 5.5% primarily due to labor <br />costs and contracts. He stated that this would equate to a 11.2% increase to Centerville due to <br />the formula for calculation due to Centerville's increase in calls over the past year. Council <br />Member Fehrenbacher provided background information regarding areas of funding that is <br />needed: replacement of a vehicle and radios that are no longer being supported by Motorola. <br />Council Member Fehrenbacher also stated that the telephone system within the building are no <br />longer being supported either. Attorney Glaser stated that the Centennial Lakes Police District <br />was recently slated as one of the top 25 safest to live in within the State of Minnesota. <br />Council Member Paar stated that the Centennial Fire District is also considering decreasing the <br />amount of vesting period needed for participants of the pension fund from 10 years to 5 years <br />allowing for additional attraction of new volunteers. Council Member Paar stated that the fund is <br />fully supportable of all existing individuals along with those that have yet to collect benefits who <br />may be vested but have not met the age requirement for payout. Council Member Paar also <br />stated that the District has submitted for grant funding to replace 59 Self -Contained Breathing <br />Apparatus' (SCBAs) and he will keep Council abreast of the status of the grant as without this <br />funding, the budget would be effected. <br />Council Member Paar also stated that there was still time remaining to register for the upcoming <br />parade on Saturday and reviewed the event lineup. <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that the Lions events went well even with the power outage and that <br />there was confusion regarding the separated events on both weekends. Mayor Wilharber stated <br />that next year that would not happen. <br />Closed executive session 8:35 P.M. <br />
