City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />August 5, 2015 <br /> <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson is a runner and has had past experience with race <br />coordination and the P & R members believe he would be a huge asset by becoming <br />involved with this event; <br /> <br /> <br /> Options presented: No run in 2016 (no one was in favor of this option), find a new <br />coordinator or develop a new plan; <br /> <br /> <br /> Confirm the run date by mid-September; <br /> <br /> <br /> Find and confirm a new volunteer coordinator or hire a coordinator; <br /> <br /> <br /> Invite Mr. Thompson of Midwest Events & Mr. Randy Fulton to attend a P & R <br />meeting in September or October to obtain their opinions and to determine if they are <br />interested in working as the coordinator; <br /> <br /> <br /> Will need to have regular Fete de Lacs Committee meetings with updates reported to <br />the P & R; <br /> <br /> <br /> Money raised from this event goes back into the community; <br /> <br /> <br />Kids runs – find sponsors for their races rather than charge $5.00 the day of the race <br />for not pre-registering; <br /> <br /> <br /> Try to obtain at least $2000 in sponsorships, plus fees from the adult participants; <br /> <br /> <br /> Hire out graphics for print advertisements at a cost of approximately $300.00; <br /> <br /> <br /> Coordination of portable toilets; <br /> <br /> <br /> Additional signage may be needed; <br /> <br /> <br /> Additional volunteers will be needed on the day of the race; <br /> <br /> <br /> Mr. Branch developed and provided a copy to each P & R member present an outline <br />of the event, duties, the volunteers’ names and when each facet needs to be done or <br />scheduled. Members would like a copy of this plan provided in the September <br />packet. <br /> <br />IV. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member Peterson <br />to approve the July 8, 2015 minutes as written. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Review of Chain of Lakes Regional Trail Master Plan – Ms. Karen Blaska <br /> <br />See Appearances <br /> <br /> <br />2.Popcorn Machine Purchase - TABLED <br /> <br /> <br />No update; request this item be placed on the agenda for the September meeting. <br /> <br />3. Short/Long Term Planning - TABLED <br /> <br /> <br />The 8 additions suggested at the July meeting have been added to the Park <br />Improvements Projects, 5 year plan.
