1 Check Out The H1111—Sled Safe
1
1 Sliding Seasdn Program
1 ❑ I have set straw bales(immediately after the first snow fall)on the inside
I of the sliding hill and run-out area fence.
1 ❑ I have completed test runs(using a plastic disk with 100 kg sand bags)
from the top of the hill in all sliding tracks,to ensure that the run-out dis-
tance is adequate. (If your hill/population uses a lot of inner tubes,or
wood toboggans with multiple riders, then increase the run-out distance).
❑ I have observed use of the hill to identify any unforeseen problems and
i have corrected them.
t ❑ I have removed or levelled snow piles from adjacent parking lots. (Do not
I stockpile snow near parking lot or hill.)
❑ Every Friday and Monday,I check all sliding hills and repair problems as
1 they appear.
❑ I have removed bumps and jumps, especially at the bottom of the slope.
1 ❑ I have reset and resupplied hay bales, checked for bales frozen into the
1 snow,and dislodged any frozen-in bales.
1 ❑ I have placed snow over any bare patches m the sliding hill.
1
❑ I have removed debris.
I
❑ I have repositioned moved furniture out of the way of sledding areas.
❑ I have, during heavy use periods and before special events, checked hills
as above,I have also watched sliders using the hills,to identify any
unforeseen problems.
❑ I have checked to be sure that all signage remains and all hill fencing is
intact.
❑ I have checked barriers on non-sanctioned popular sliding areas, and have
repaired or reinstalled the barriers as required.
❑ I am aware of the scheduling of all on-hill public education programs.
❑ I have heard/seen the public education media campaign, and have pro-
vided comments to other staff.
Name(print) Sign Date(yy/mm/dd)
Appendix A—Sliding Hill Checklists Page 27
