September 17, 2015 <br />Mike Ericson, City Administrator <br />City -Of Centerville <br />1880 fain St <br />Centerville, MN 85088 <br />RE. 2018 System Sta meats <br />Dear Mr. Ericson: <br />The Metropolitan Council recently adopted Thrive MSP 2040 and updated regional system and <br />policies plans, including the 2040 Transportation Policy Plan, the 2040 Regional Parks Policy <br />Ptah, the 2040 Water Resources Policy Plan, and the 2040 Housing Policy Plan, Accordingly, <br />the Council is now issuing system statements as required by state statute. <br />The system statement for your community, enclosed, shows how the changes to the Council's <br />regional system plans affect your community specifically. The distribution of System Statements <br />triggers the timeline for updating your local comprehensive plan, due to the Council by <br />Deoember 31, 2018. <br />To help you with updating your plan, we are exdW to introduce our updated Local Planning <br />Handbook (hftp*..//mrtr=ouncil.ongLhandbook.ast>x), which has transition into a web -based <br />guide. The updated Handbook provides clear and speclhc direction on the minimum <br />requirements for updating your plan, customized data and maps in the Community Pages <br />section, and an array of tools and resources to male it easier to complete your comprehensive <br />plan update and focus on value-added planning for your community. <br />You also find an electronic version of your system statement on your Community Page in the <br />online Local Planning handbook.
