City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 24, 2016 <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the item was tabled from the previous meeting due to a need <br />for clarification from the Finance Director. Administrator Ericson stated that Finance Director <br />Paulseth confirmed of the amount of the purchases to be $1,600 and would be an allowable <br />expenditure for the City. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to Aprove the <br />Purchase of Eight Gator Batteries and 12 Handheld Radio Batteries in an Amount of <br />$1579.80 as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding State Purchasing Contract, notification of the Radio Club and <br />Festival Committee. Administrator Ericson stated that he would research the purchase and notify <br />both the Radio Club and Festival Committee of the purchases. Council Member Paar requested <br />that several members of the Radio Club included in the email group for Festival meetings and <br />Mayor Wilharber thanked the Radio Club for their dedication to safety and working with the <br />City during events. <br /> <br />3. County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah, Metropolitan Council Governance <br />Structure <br /> a. Res. #16-010 – Supporting Principles for Reform of the Metropolitan Council <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that this item was tabled from the previous meeting to provide <br />Council Members time to review the item and staff’s drafting of a resolution for consideration. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued with members of the Council noting the Met. Council’s roll has transformed <br />over the years from providing sewer and land use policy. Members are appointed by the <br />Governor rather than elected official and the merits of accountability to their constituents was <br />discussed. Council felt that this is a good start in protecting the City’s guardianship of resources <br />and policy making authority. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Paar to Adopt Res. #16- <br />010 as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Federal Emergency Management Agency – Correspondence Revalidating Previous <br />Determinations <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that this item was requested to be placed on Council’s agenda by <br />Council Member King as an educational item for Council Members and residents regarding the <br />new FEMA Flood Map. He noted the revisions and avenues for residents to use to obtain a <br />Letter of Map Determination or Revision from FEMA if their financial institutions require flood <br />insurance. <br /> <br />Engineer Statz stated that more than one year ago the City, in conjunction with several land <br />owners, Rice Creek Watershed District and FEMA worked cooperatively to modify the <br />Page 3 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
