City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 3, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />Other: discussed possibility of gathering together police, fire, CERT team and <br />K-9 units by the City Hall for the kids to experience seeing them up close, <br />learning about the each of these and to provide great examples that these <br />people are working to protect them and to keep them safe. Other possibilities <br />are the water patrol, SWAT team & a helicopter. <br />There was also discussion regarding sponsors and possibly having a Petting Zoo <br />& Inflatables during the festival. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson also suggested the possibility of having a booth at the <br />NE Metro Expo, a community business expo, on May 1, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 4 <br />p.m. The cost would be $250 <br /> <br />Ms. Kerri Kolstad of Wahoo! Adventures has been hired as the Fete des Lacs <br />Race Director for the 8k/5k/Fun Run/Walk to be held on August 6, 2016 for <br />$2,100 based on 60 hours at the rate of $35 per hour. She will work with the <br />Festival Committee and City of Centerville. She is working on the following: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />has developed a website for the festival (fetedeslacs.org), which is not yet <br />live, and it is hoped that any websites, events and links can be tied in to this <br />new one so there will be one main source of information. This would include <br />the ability to download the race courses and the registration form (waiver); <br /> <br /> <br />is in the process of developing a new logo for the back of the race day shirts, <br />listing the sponsors, adding verbiage as “Strong Parks/Strong Community” & <br />keeping the stick person, for continuity from past events, but updating it; <br /> <br /> <br />suggested providing a sapling to plant by the participants; <br /> <br /> <br />simplify pricing tiers; <br /> <br /> <br />provide some kids activities such as face painting, etc. while the parents are <br />registering for the race; <br /> <br /> <br />obtain the support of the White Bear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Lino <br />Lakes & Hugo Business Associations. <br />In addition, the following items need to be started/completed in January/February: <br />online registration set up, park permit applications with Anoka County and City <br />of Centerville, advertising in Running Magazines, etc. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />5.Family Skate Night & Hayride <br /> <br /> This event will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Laurie LaMotte <br />Memorial Park. The hayride and skating begins at 6:30pm with the hayride <br />ending at 8:30 p.m. & skating ending at 9:00 p.m. These activities will also <br />include a bonfire, popcorn and hot cocoa.
