City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 3, 2016 <br />This organization is seeking schools and communities interested in hosting a <br />Walk! Bike! Fun! Pedestrian and Bicycle Safe Curriculum training session in <br />Spring, 2016. Administrator Ericsen met with Centerville Elementary to discuss a <br />bike inspection and rodeo. This will be further discussed at the March meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Election of 2016 Chair & Vice-Chair for the P & R Committee <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee <br />Member Seeley to elect Jon Grahek as Committee Chair for the ensuing <br />year. All in Favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee <br />Member Amundsen to elect Kevin Weghe as Committee Vice-Chair for the <br />ensuing year, upon his acceptance. All in Favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />3.2016 Tour de Hugo Bike Ride <br /> <br />This event, scheduled for September 24, 2016 is comprised of 4 separate races – <br />6, 20, 32 & 65 miles, utilizing city streets, county roads and country trails. <br /> <br /> <br />4.2016 Fete des Lacs – August 5, 6 &7 <br /> <br /> <br />The 2016 Centerville Fete Des Lacs Festival is scheduled for the first weekend in <br />August, 2016. City Administrator Ericson has been coordinating & chairing the <br />monthly meetings of the 2016 Centerville Fete des Lacs Festival Committee <br />consisting of representatives from area businesses, organizations, Staff and <br />Committee Members. Sub-committees are being organized and additional <br />participants/volunteers are being sought. <br /> <br />In an update from the January 25, 2016 Committee meeting, the following items <br />were presented/discussed: <br /> <br /> <br />Ms Kerri Kolstad was introduced and provided some information on her <br />business, Wahoo! Adventures. <br /> <br /> <br />Circus: the circus contacted was unavailable for 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />Placemats: this will list all of the individual activities during the 3 days of the <br />festival including the weekly Music in the Park on Tuesday evenings and the <br />Water Ski Show on Thursday evenings and be placed in area restaurants. <br />Approximate size 13.5 x 10.5 and Committee Member Amundsen will get <br />prices on 1 – 4 color printing; <br /> <br /> <br />Parade: suggested the parade go to the Laurie LaMotte Park from the school <br />& not block off Centerville Road; <br /> <br /> <br />Fireworks: joint effort with City & Lions – would prefer to schedule them for <br />Saturday since there are more activities going on during the day & could keep <br />people in the city longer; <br /> <br /> <br />Bingo: Lions may hold Bingo on both Saturday and Sunday, but will need <br />additional volunteers to help, possibly the Boy Scouts; <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
