City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 25, 2016 <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member Love to <br />incorporate Urban Land Institute in the regularly scheduled Council Meeting of July 13, <br />2016 commencing at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />5.2016 Supplemental Street Work <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Staff removed the concrete work from the original bid for the <br />2016 Mill & Overlay Project anticipating that there would be a cost saving if bid on its own. He <br />stated that Staff believes they saved 50% of the anticipated cost by doing this work separately <br />and the City received three (3) bids (L’Allier Concrete - $12,875, Olson’s Sewer Service, Inc. - <br />$18,548.55 and Knife River Corporation - $29,665). He also stated that the work to be <br />completed would be minimal curb and gutter replacement, catch basin restoration and manhole <br />adjustments. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding manholes along Meadow Lane from a previous mill and overlay <br />project and anticipated repairs as these areas are fairly deep and apparent. Engineer Statz stated <br />that staff would look into this reported area and make arrangements for repairs. <br /> <br />Council also discussed the condition of trails and sidewalks which have cracked. Administrator <br />Ericson stated that the Public Works Director Palzer will research and get quotes for this. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member King to Approve <br />L’Allier Concrete’s Bid of $12,875 for the 2016 Supplemental Street Work as presented. <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENT <br /> <br />a. Anoka County Recycling Recognition Ceremony on May 18, 2016 <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that he attended the Anoka County Recycling Recognition <br />Ceremony of May 18, 2016. The City of Centerville received two (2) certificates of recognition <br />for their Tri-City (Centerville, Circle Pines & Lexington) Recycling Day and the residents of <br />Centerville recycling 200,225 tons of material in 2015. Administrator Ericson stated that he felt <br />there was room for improvement and he would be working with Staff on additional recycling <br />efforts to increase recycled materials. <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson reported that the Centennial Fire District had completed a fire training <br />exercise on the house and garage the school purchased at 7124 Centerville Road and 1709 Main <br />Street. He reported that many local agencies participated in training and the School District <br />provided a stipend to the District for its services. Staff worked diligently to ensure safety of both <br />fire personnel and residents while providing important training opportunities for firefighters. <br /> <br />Council Member King stated that North Metro Telecommunication Commission does own a <br />drone that member cities can utilize for no fee.
