City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 25, 2016 <br />good for the City and Stantec would be submitting a proposal for the work. Administrator <br />Ericson stated that Staff would be working with the Engineer to provide a comprehensive RFP <br />and define the scope of work requested. <br /> <br />Lengthy discussion ensued regarding the possibility of utilizing Request for Qualifications <br />(RFQs) rather than the RFP process. Council discussed the downtown redevelopment plan and <br />its viability or just portions of the plan and redevelopment of certain parcels within the <br />downtown area that might be placed on the market shortly. Engineerr Statz stated that the water <br />supply plan would incorporated into the Comprehensive Plan, inclusion of the school in <br />discussions, demographics, senior housing, restaurant, medical office, coffee shop or dental <br />office. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to <br />Authorize Staff to Prepare a Draft for Receiving RFPs for the City’s Comprehensive Plan <br />Update to P & Z and Recommendation to Council. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Request to Submit Grant for Up To $10,000 from Met. Council to Assist <br />w/Comprehensive Plan Update & Planning Projects <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the Met. Council is providing opportunities for funding of <br />Comprehensive Planning Efforts through grants. He also stated that Met. Council has a small <br />cities grant of $10,000 for the City’s application and that the application is not currently <br />available for completion on-line but anticipated shortly. Administrator Ericson is looking for <br />direction from the Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to <br />Authorize Submission of a Grant to Met Council in the Amount of Up To $10,000 to Assist <br />w/the City’s Comprehensive Plan Update. <br /> <br />Council Member King commented that he agrees with applying for the grant as it is taxpayer <br />dollars and would be a good use of the funding. <br /> <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Schedule Work Session with Urban Land Institute (ULI) to Conduct Navigating <br />your Competitive Future <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that he believes that scheduling a free session with Urban Land <br />Institute would provide the Council and Committee/Commissions with tools to market and <br />promote the City for development and redevelopment. ULI will discuss economic development <br />which is a priority of Council and it would be best to invite Mr. Jon Rausch, Mr. Mike Brass and <br />Mr. Lou Suski as these are major realtors within the community and neighboring communities. <br />Administrator Ericson stated that he was looking for direction from the Council as to whether <br />they desired to invite Urban Land Institute and others to an upcoming Work Session. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
