City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 6, 2016 <br />7. Warming House Overhang – Lighting Issues <br /> <br /> <br />Committee Member Amundsen inquired as to why there is no lighting in the overhang of <br />the warming house. <br /> <br /> Public Works Director Palzer stated that he would obtain an estimate for the installation <br />of LED lighting for underneath the warming house overhang. <br /> <br />8. Bike Minnesota Event Idea <br /> <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson commented again how Centerville is a good bicycling <br />community with its local and County trails. He shared the Bike Minnesota flyer as a <br />future event idea. <br /> <br />9. Spring Cleanup of the Parks <br /> <br /> <br />The Committee chose to clean the local parks on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The <br />Committee discussed the annual cleanup of Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park by the <br />Centennial Little League and stated that they would complete the remaining parks and <br />meet at City Hall at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> A local resident along with a group of children had contacted Ms. Bender and arranged <br />to clean Tracie McBride and Acorn Creek Park for the same day and the Committee was <br />made aware of this prior to their cleanup efforts. Ms. Dawna Butcher, 7138 Brian Drive <br /> <br />and her daughter Savannah. <br /> <br />VI. UPDATES <br /> <br /> <br />1.Council Updates – Council Member Steve King <br /> <br /> Mr. King provided information regarding a proposed construction of an apartment <br />building on the Waterworks site along Main Street. He also provided information <br />regarding Centennial School District’s proposal to expand the parking lot at <br />Centerville Elementary School for the safety of the buses/students and parents <br />dropping students off. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2.2016 Fete des Lacs Updates 5K/8K Runs <br /> <br /> Administrator Ericson stated that that Ms. Kolstad was unable to attend the <br />meeting due to a family reunion. He noted the positive progress with obtaining <br />sponsors, marketing and preparation for hosting a booth at the Hugo Kidz’n Biz <br />Fest on April 30, 2016 in Hugo. <br /> <br /> <br />3.2016 Fete des Lacs Committee Updates <br /> <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
