<br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 11, 2016 <br />6:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled <br />meeting of May 11, 2016 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> Mayor Tom Wilharber <br /> Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher <br /> <br />Council Member Steve King <br /> <br /> Council Member D. Love <br /> <br />Council Member Jeff Paar <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> None. <br /> <br />STAFF: <br /> City Administrator Mike Ericson <br /> City Attorney Kurt Glaser <br /> City Planner, John Shardlow <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber opened the Board of Review & Equalization meeting at 6:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Alex Guggenberger stated that the City of Centerville experienced more commercial and <br />industrial sales which has an effect on our commercial and industrial market values. Mr. <br />Guggenberger stated that several commercial/industrial entities were present this evening to <br />reserve their rights to appeal the values placed on their property. Mr. Guggenberger also stated <br />that appeals will go to Anoka County but the City cannot motion to modify values here this <br />evening. Alex stated that the parcel identification numbers will be read into the public record <br />and the City’s appraiser, Ken Tolzmann, will review and make recommendations to the County. <br />Mr. Guggenberger read the following parcel identification numbers into the record as appealing <br />their valuation: <br /> <br />Property Owner PIN <br /> <br />Lloyd Drilling 23-31-22-12-0093 & 23-31-22-12-0091 <br />Polar Pride Properties 23-31-22-14-0018 & 23-31-22-14-0075 <br />Chad Buechler /CenterMart, LLC 23-31-22-12-0006 & 23-31-22-14-0007 <br />John Magill/SAM Properties 23-31-22-11-0002 <br /> <br />Mr. Guggenberger stated that neighborhood shopping centers can cross different property types <br />so additional research will be given to those properties. <br /> <br />Council had a discussion with members of the audience on how the board felt about excessive <br />taxes being imposed on businesses and why Anoka County’s taxes are so high comparative to <br />Washington County’s. They discussed property taxes and whether housing values decrease <br /> <br /> <br />
