<br />City of CenterviIle <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 22, 2003 <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member Lee <br /> <br />to approve Ordinance #75 as presented. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra clarified that the wording of the Ordinance states that the animals <br />are alive when they reach the facility. <br /> <br />Mr. Mark Peterson, 505 Como Avenue and Jerry Coates, 1638 Hunter's Trail, addressed <br />Council and indicated they are considering relocating a substantial business to Centerville <br />and are concerned with the potential location of the slaughterhouse. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated the City has just begun the process of determining an <br />appropriate location for a slaughterhouse and has no ability to provide location <br />information at this time. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that Mr. Vang is proposing to use the Reel <br />Manufacturing site on 20th Avenue but has also stated an interest in opening up a dance <br />hall or community center ifthe site is not appropriate for a slaughterhouse. <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd Drilling, 7185 Mound Trail, asked whether the City was under the gun to <br />change the Ordinance. City Attorney Hoeft indicated there has been no formal <br />application so there is no time frame pending. <br /> <br />Mr. Drilling asked if the City has to allow a slaughterhouse if it is not in the Ordinance. <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated the City has the ability to control where the business would <br />be located and under what conditions but cannot tell them they are not allowed. <br /> <br />Mr. Drilling asked whether fees could be charged to the applicant to recover City costs <br />involved with changing the Ordinance. City Attorney Hoeft indicated that the City must <br />bear the cost of amending its Ordinance. <br /> <br />All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />7. Parks and Recreation Committee Recommendation for Centennial Little League <br />Usage of Ball Fields for 2003 <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra. seconded by Council Member Lee to allow <br />Centennial Little Lea2ue to use the fields for 2003 as recommended by the Parks <br />and Recreation Committee. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously_ <br /> <br />8. TimeSaver <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he would like to change the format of the minutes to be that of <br />a summary of discussion with motions and the vote to simplify things. He further <br />commented that the minutes are quite lengthy and he does not have the time to read them <br />during the busy season for his business. <br /> <br />Page 13 of 18 <br />
