Council Chambers <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he would like Staff to research the costs involved with <br />insulating and sheet rocking the outside wall in Council Chambers as well as changing <br />the paint color. <br /> <br />Council agreed to discuss the configuration and remodeling of Council Chambers at the <br />work session. <br /> <br />12. Centerville Lion's Fete des Lacs Contribution Request Parade/Fireworks <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he was not prepared to authorize any expenditures for the Fete <br />des Lacs until a group has come forward to indicate they are willing to plan the event. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she had spoken to Mr. Thill who said he is willing to <br />plan the parade and needs to begin reserving some of the parade participants now in order <br />to ensure availability. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he feels that the City needs more than a parade and fireworks, <br />there needs to be some organization and planning of more events to bring in enough <br />people to make it successful. He then said he does not feel comfortable handing over the <br />money for the parade and fireworks when there is no plan in place for the rest of the <br />festival. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated the money is in the budget and she would <br />like to see the Lions come and say they want to take on scheduling and planning the <br />Festival. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra said she asked Mr. Thill and he is willing to serve as a City <br />volunteer to organize the parade. Mayor Sweeney indicated he was not comfortable <br />giving the money to an individual and, if the Lions are interested, they should come to <br />Council to request the money for the Festival. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee indicated he would like to see events that involve the community as <br />a whole such as charging an entry fee for the parade and the best float wins the pot and <br />potato sack races or something like that. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra. seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to table this item. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he did not want this on the next agenda unless there is an <br />organization wanting to plan the event. <br /> <br />VIII.
