<br />1.3 Authority <br /> <br />The provisions of this personnel policy may be revised or amended at any time <br />by resolution at the sole discretion of the City Council. The City Administrator <br />shall make interpretation of these policies or decision on items not covered with <br />them. <br /> <br />1.4 Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br />The City of Centerville strives to provide full and equal opportunities for every <br />person in all areas related to employment, training, promotion and compensation. <br />No individual shall be discriminated against with respect to compensation, terms, <br />conditions or other privileges of employment because of race, color, creed, <br />religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual preference, marital status, veteran <br />status, source of income, or physical disability, and to any other group or class <br />against which discrimination is prohibited by state or federal law. <br /> <br />Employees who participate in discrimination of any kind are subject to discipline, <br />at the discretion of the City, up to and including termination. <br /> <br />Any person who feels that he/she has been discriminated against should contact <br />their supervisor. Employees can bring complaints, ask questions, and raise <br />concerns under this policy without fear of reprisal. <br /> <br />2 DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />The following words and terms shall have the meaning as defined herein, unless <br />the context indicates otherwise. <br /> <br />2-1 Absent Without Leave - Any absence of an employee from duty <br />including any absence for a single day or part of a day that is not <br />authorized by a specific leave of absence or time off under the provisions <br />of this policy. <br /> <br />2-2 Anniversary Date - The month and day of initial hiring or promotion of a <br />regular full-time or regular part-time employee. <br /> <br />2-3 Appointing Authority - The City Council or City Officer to whom the <br />Council has delegated authority to appoint personnel. <br /> <br />2-4 Benefits - Privileges or non-monetary compensation granted to <br />employees in the form of leaves of absence, insurance, or pay received in <br />lieu of accrued leave upon termination employment. <br /> <br />2 <br />
