<br />4.2 Job Posting <br /> <br />Position vacancies for regular full-time and regular part-time positions will be <br />posted on the official City bulletin boards in City Hall and Public Works building <br />for five (5) working days prior to filling the vacancy. The positing will specify the <br />title; starting salary or range; the nature of the work to be performed; how to <br />apply; the closing date for receiving application; and other pertinent information. <br /> <br />4-3 Recruitment And Selection <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Recruitment. The City Administrator or designee is responsible to <br />manage the recruitment process to assure compliance with federal and state <br />laws as well as City of Centerville practices. This includes approving all job <br />postings, advertisements, placing of job advertisements, addendums to the <br />application and other recruitment materials. The City Administrator will meet with <br />the appropriate supervisor to determine the best methods for recruiting. <br /> <br />When the City recruits a position externally, the position will be advertised in <br />selected newspapers, periodicals, newsletters and/or through direct mailings. <br />All appointments shall be made at the discretion of the City Administrator on the <br />basis of merit and fitness for the position, as determined by the City Administrator. <br />Merit and fitness may be determined by written, oral and/or other job-relevant <br />examination, as well as by consideration of education, past experience and other <br />job-relevant qualifications. The City Council shall confirm all appointments to full- <br />time positions. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 Application Form. Unless otherwise stipulated by the City Administrator, <br />applications shall be made on written forms. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 Application Review. The City Administrator and/or the supervisor shall <br />review all applications and conduct job-relevant background reviews screening all <br />applications to determine candidate qualifications. Initial interviews may be <br />conducted of the applicants whose qualifications are best-suited for the position, as <br />determined by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />The City Administrator shall then submit a list of names of eligible candidates to the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />Subd. 4 Examination. If examination is required for a position, the examination <br />shall be administered by the City Administrator or his/her designee at a time and <br />place established by the same. Upon receipt of the examination results, the City <br />Administrator or his/her designee shall notify each person taking the examination in <br />writing of the results of the examination. Examination scores will be adjusted in <br />accordance with the provisions of the Veteran's Preference Act where applicable. <br /> <br />6 <br />
