<br />6.8 <br /> <br />Unauthorized Absences <br /> <br />Employees may not be absent from duty without permission from their <br />supervisor. Any employee absent from duty without leave or permission will be <br />subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal at the discretion of the <br />City. Unauthorized absence from work may be considered a resignation without <br />notice and not in good standing. <br /> <br />7 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />7.1 General <br /> <br />Regular full-time, probationary and part-time employees, on a pro-rated basis, <br />are eligible for the paid holidays as listed below. No seasonal/temporary <br />employees will receive holiday pay for time not worked. <br /> <br />7 .2 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />DATE <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King's Birthday <br />President's Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veterans Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Fourth Friday <br />Christmas Day <br />Floating Holiday <br /> <br />January 1 <br />Third Monday in January <br />Third Monday in February <br />Last Monday in May <br />July4 <br />First Monday in September <br />November 11 <br />Fourth Thursday in November <br />Friday after Thanksgiving <br />December 25 <br />Date to be pre-approved. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Saturday/Sunday Holidays - For full time employees, if a holiday falls <br />on a Sunday, the following day will be the observed holiday. If a holiday falls on <br />a Saturday, the preceding day will be the observed holiday. <br /> <br />Part time employees will be compensated on a pro-rated basis for any holidays <br />that fall on a Saturday or Sunday. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 Floating Holiday - Each employee gets one floating holiday per year <br />and it may be taken at the request of the employee, with prior approval of the <br />employee's supervisor. Floating holiday may be taken during the probationary <br />period. An unused floating holiday shall be forfeited and may not be carried over <br />to the next payroll year nor paid as severance. <br /> <br />14 <br />
