City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 13, 2016 <br />Mayor Wilharber provided an opportunity to Council Members for removal of any items of <br />concern. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member King to Approve Consent <br />Agenda as presented. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENT <br /> <br /> <br />1.Administrator Ericson <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Staff is working hard to ensure that the Fete des Lacs Festival <br />event is successful and he appreciates the involvement of all that are volunteering. <br /> <br />Engineer Statz stated that the Centerville Elementary School Parking Lot Project is on schedule. <br /> <br />Council Member Love stated that he attended a Centennial Fire Steering meeting on July 7, 2016 <br />where discussions took place regarding types of calls, standby pay for volunteer fire fighters, <br />physical criteria of a volunteer fire fighter following medical leave and the budget. Mayor <br />Wilharber stated that it is anticipated that there will be a 10.2% increase in the Fire District <br />Budget for 2017 with Centerville’s portion increasing by $57,756. Mayor Wilharber reported <br />that the complete proposed budget would be forwarded to Council for consideration shortly. <br /> <br />Council Member Love also reported that he had attended a Police Governing Board meeting on <br />July 11, 2016 where discussions were held regarding the proposed 2017 budget, personnel <br />changes and a new towing contract with Twin Cities Transport & Recovery out of Blaine. <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that the Police Department is joining the majority of other enforcement <br />agencies in purchasing body cameras and $16,000 is budgeted in 2017 with $17,000 for <br />replacement of the outdated telephone system. Mayor Wilharber also reported that it is <br />anticipated that there will be a 2.6% increase in the Centennial Lakes Police Department budget <br />for 2017 with Centerville’s portion increasing by approximately $66,500. Discussion ensued <br />regarding the costs of storing data and whether that was above and beyond the $17,000, Council <br />Member Love stated that the equipment (cameras) was $15,000 and the remainder was storage <br />for the first year. Council Member King stated he believed that the Department was not <br />interested in the body cameras and Council Member Fehrenbacher stated that the Department has <br />modified its thought process due to not being the first department to utilize the equipment, <br />regulations and data retention have changed since first proposed/incepted. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
