The
current contract is a 5-year contract that was approved in 1999 and is up for
reconsideration in 2004.

Other issues that we discussed included:

· Clean Up Days - Changing the language to reflect that the City will do
one clean up day per year, but leaving the option open to do two per year
if desired in the future.

· Charging a Fee for Clean Up Day - Mr. Boyum suggested that the City
charge disposal costs at the Clean Up Day. Currently, the City pays for all
the disposal costs associated with the Clean Up Day with funds from the
County. With these SCORE Grant funds being eliminated, the money the
City used for this recycling program will not be available.

· Appendix A - Waste Management's Sticker Program - Currently,
residents expect that their hauler will pick up items listed on Appendix A.
With a new contract, Waste Management will no longer be picking up
many of these items, but does have a sticker program whereby sofas,
appliances, etc can be picked up if they have a stick on them. These
stickers would be available at City Hall for about $5.00 and if the resident
wants an item picked up at curbside, they would purchase a sticker for
each item to be placed curbside for pick up.

· Disaster Management Group - Staff asked what program, if any, Waste
Management had in place in the event of a natural or man-made disaster
for the disposal of garbage/debris. He indicated that Waste Management
is currently dealing with this idea with a Disaster Management Group
