Ii'

CHIEF'S REPORT
DECEMBER 2002

Several department employees and I on December 3rd and 4th served as bell ringers for
the Salvation Army at Festival Foods in Lexington. $826+ dollars in donations were
received on those two dates. The following staff volunteered their time-Deputy Chief
Makela, Adm. Sgt. Nelson, Cpl. McCarty, Officer Aldrich, Officer Corlew, Reserve
Officer Woods and Adm. Asst. Rismoen. Thanks to all who participated in this
community oriented policing event.

On. December 17th Cpl. Jensen opened his home to the department for a holiday
gathering. Those attending received a full course dinner with all the trimmings prepared'
for us by his entire family-quite an undertaking! Thank you Mike and family-it was a
great evening!

Several officers and staff were able to take time off during the month to celebrate the
holidays with their families. I was no exception. Beginning with my son-in-Iaws concert
at the Xcel Energy Center on December 20th, we had family, friends, and officers in our
home for "10" days of Christmas. Total time off during December included 44 days of
vacation used, 13 holidays, 10 comp days and 8 1f2 sick days.

Meetings I attended during the month included our regularly scheduled commISSion
meeting, a department meeting and training session on the new state accident report,
Anoka Co. emergency management, Centennial community network, Anoka Chiefs with
Deputy Chief Makela, Adm. Asst. Rismoen and Records Tech Lewis, two Anoka County
Joint Law Enforcement Council sub committee meetings (Communications committee
and 800 :MHz T AC) and several meetings with officers and professional assistants.

/#
