City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 11, 2017 <br />Mayor Paar reported that the Fire Steering Committee meeting last week and that Council Member <br />King, Administrator Ericson and himself attended. He stated that they are utilizing the same auditing <br />firm as in previous years with the cost being $6,100 and that they were over budget in the second and <br />third quarters but by the end of the year they balanced due to the amount of medical calls that they <br />were responding to and restructuring these. Mayor Paar also reported that the EMS training that is <br />being provided to firefighters is approximately $1,495/person with training taking place at several <br />locations. He stated that they desired to have one regular training place and may utilize Centennial <br />Schools. He also reported that the Department is aggressively seeking new recruits. He stated that <br />the new truck is anticipated to be delivered by the end of January with no loans being secured for the <br />purchase. He desired to state that early payment by the City of the second quarter billing would allow <br />for payment of the truck upon delivery. Lengthy discussion was had regarding duty crews, amount of <br />available personnel, personnel retention, pension, increasing pay, costs of training a new fire fighter <br />($7,000) and possibilities of contracting services through other local departments <br />Mayor Paar reported that six local residents recently graduated from the first Public Safety Citizen's <br />Academy, the hiring of a new police officer Nolan Walberg, Officer Rodriguez has completed his <br />field training and part-time Officer Faheem Karim is continuing his field training. Mayor Paar <br />thanked previous Mayor Wilharber for his dedication to the Centennial Lakes Police Department and <br />for serving on the Governing Board for so many years. <br />Mayor Paar desired to end the meeting with a final note: stating that "The time is now, you need to <br />put your bipartisan thoughts aside and roll up your sleeves and get involved by volunteering". He <br />stated that the City has many opportunities for volunteering and to contact Administrator Ericson or <br />himself for more information. <br />X11. ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Koski to Adiourn the Council <br />Meeting of January 11, 2017 at 7:40 p.m. All in favor.
