17.3 The EMPLOYER shall pay for the Long Term Disability insurance policy currently <br />provided for full-time employees. <br />ARTICLE 18 - FUNERAL LEAVE <br />18.1 Full-time employees maybe granted up to three (3) days with pay to attend the funeral of <br />a member of the employee's immediate family. <br />18.2 Immediate family is defined for this ARTICLE as an employee's spouse, child <br />(natural/adopted, legal guardian/conservator), parent (includes employee's and spouse's), <br />brother, sister (natural/adopted), sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and grandparents (includes <br />employee's and spouse's). <br />ARTICLE 19 - SICK LEAVE <br />19.1 Full-time employees shall accumulate sick leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per month <br />to a maximum of nine hundred sixty (960) hours <br />19.2 Full-time employees may use personal sick leave benefits provided by the EMPLOYER <br />for absences due to an illness of or injury to the employee's child, as defined in <br />Minnesota Statutes, section 181.940, subdivision 4, adult child, spouse, sibling, parent, <br />grandparent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law or grandchild for reasonable <br />periods of time as the employee's attendance may be necessary, on the same terms upon <br />which the employee is able to use sick leave benefits for the employee's own illness or <br />injury. <br />19.3 When an employee reaches the 960 hour cap for sick leave, they may trade any hours <br />over the cap on a 2 for 1 basis. Employees may trade 2 sick leave days for 1 vacation <br />day, or they may trade 2 sick leave hours for 1 hour owed the department for 2080 time, <br />up to the maximum number of days or hours they are over the sick leave cap. <br />ARTICLE 20 — SEVERANCE/HEALTH CARE SAVINGS PLAN <br />Full-time employees shall be paid severance pay at the rate of fifty percent (50%) of the <br />employee's unused sick leave of up to 960 hours and the remaining balance of unused vacation <br />leave, upon honorable termination of employment provided the employee has given the <br />EMPLOYER thirty (30) days notice. The Chief of Police may waive the thirty (30) day notice <br />requirement. Severance compensation as described shall be paid into the employee's Health <br />Care Savings Plan as described in this Agreement. <br />Effective October 1, 2006, the Employer shall establish a post -employment Health Care Savings <br />Plan (HCSP) through the Minnesota State Retirement System with funding provided by payment <br />of all the employee's severance compensation as described above.
