City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 8, 2017 <br />Discussion ensued regarding the hiring of a babysitter, eating out allowing for attendance, etc. <br />offsetting their volunteering efforts. Council felt that both the P & R and P & Z positions are vital in <br />making important recommendations on issues. <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member King to Increase <br />Commission/Committee Stipends from $20/Meetin2 to $50/Meetin2 Effective March, 2017. All <br />in favor. Motion carried. <br />8. Centennial Fire District — Purchase of Ladder Truck <br />This item was moved and previously discussed. <br />Xl. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENT <br />1. Administrator Ericson <br />Administrator Ericson stated he has met with Race Director Ms. Kerri Kolstad and she has attended P <br />& R meetings. Mr. Pat Branch has suggested paddle board and kayak races with proceeds going to <br />the homeless in conjunction with the Fete des Lacs festivities. He also stated that the Lions are <br />planning some new activities and they and are preparing for the Annual Lynn Johnson Memorial Ice <br />Fishing Contest on February 18, 2017. <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah sent an invitation <br />for Council to attend a joint hearing of the House Transportation Policy, Regional Governance and <br />Senate Local Government Committees meeting on February 15, 2017, Bunker Hills Activity Center <br />regarding Met. Council reform. Administrator Ericson stated that all Council member desiring to <br />attend should notify him as soon as possible. <br />This meeting was cancelled on February 10, 2017 <br />Engineer Statz stated that the Comprehensive Plan Amendment process would be commencing <br />shortly along with the Surface Water Management Plan. He stated that the City arranged for a due <br />date as late as possible allowing for inclusion in the City's Comp. Plan (June, 2018). He reported that <br />in previous years the City bid projects with labor and materials separate to save funding due to sales <br />tax and now the legislature will be discussing this procedure with the League of Minnesota Cities <br />attempting to make it less cumbersome for local governments. Engineer Statz also stated that the <br />Council will be holding an Assessment Hearing on the 2017 Mill & Overlay Project on February 22, <br />2017. <br />Council Member Love thanked Staff for sharing information with the League of Minnesota Cities <br />regarding cancer research and stated that the next Centennial Lakes Police Department Steering <br />Committee will be next Monday. <br />Council Member Koski, Council Liaison to Planning & Zoning Commission, stated that Ruffridge <br />Johnson Equipment Company will be a great partner in Centerville. <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />
