City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 12, 2017 <br /> <br />Mr. Christenson stated that he agrees that the development should be a Planned Unit <br />Development with underlying zoning maybe more appropriate but does not want to pay an <br />application fee for that. <br /> <br />Attorney Glaser stated that many items can be addressed within a Planned Unit Development, <br />giving broader requirements and did not see any disadvantages of that type of tool being utilized <br />for this development. <br /> <br />Council Member Love stated that Council is excited that Mr. Christenson desires to assist in <br />development within our community, welcomes him and desires for staff to continue to work with <br />him to make the best development for both himself and the City of Centerville. <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that he had concerns regarding the 60 day rule and whether items <br />could be taken care of in that timeframe and suggested a 60 day extension for the rezone. Senior <br />Planner Carlson concurred. <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that very healthy discussions have been had at the Planning & <br />Zoning level, Council level and Mr. Christenson is the first of six (6) individuals that have <br />bypassed this property due to the challenges and he is determined to develop it. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Koski, seconded by Council Member Love to Extend the <br />Rezone Request by sixty (60) days and direct Staff to assist Mr. Christensen with the <br />continued planning of the development. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />th <br />Ms. Robyn Moore, 7353 – 20 Avenue North, stated that the property in question has been <br />family owned for quite some time, believes that Mr. Christenson can develop the area well and <br />acceptable to surrounding neighbors. <br /> <br />Mr. Mark Dahl, 7340 Brian Drive, was concerned about drainage, losing the cul de sac on Brian <br />Drive and the value of homes being constructed. He stated that his property has water on all <br />sides of his home and he does not want any more. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski stated that he would have felt more comfortable if there was a work <br />session involving RCWD, Army Corp. of Eng., etc. rather than pushing action this evening as <br />this is the first he has heard of this proposal for development. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated that it has taken a long time to get to this point working with <br />Senior Planner Carlson, Engineer Statz and Council Member King has a valid point. <br /> <br />X.
