City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 12, 2017 <br /> <br />He stated that Public Works Maintenance Technician Peterson’s mother-in-law recently passed <br />away and he would like to take a moment to pass his condolences to their family. He also stated <br />that custodian Solheid has retired due to his wife’s needs for additional care and a card was <br />available for signing this evening. He also stated that Festival meetings, organization and <br />arrangements are ramping up for this year and that he recently met with Race Coordinator <br />Kolstad for an hour and a half discussing logistics, etc. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission had lengthy discussion <br />regarding Mr. Christenson’s proposed development and he desired to thank the Committee for <br />their service and members of the community for their input on the issue. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Koski to table <br />CenterPoint Energy, Item #2. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Council Member Montain thanked Mr. Solheid for his service and stated that he will be missed. <br />He stated that the Parks & Recreation Committee did not have a quorum so no meeting was held <br />and invited everyone to participate in Fete des Lacs events. <br /> <br />Council Member Montain reminded City Clerk Bender not to three-hole punch the packets. <br /> <br />Council Member Montain reported that he filled in for Council Member Love at a recent <br />Centennial Lakes Police Governing Board meeting where Mr. Terry Stolzman, Anoka County <br />Emergency Manager, presented information regarding municipal governments responsibilities <br />related to Emergency Management. He stated that it was a very good meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that Council’s next meeting would be taking place on July 26 rather than July <br />28 as stated on the bottom of the agenda. He also stated that if individuals had not already <br />registered for events associated with Fete des Lacs they should, that a listing of events and times <br />are on the web site and that the fireworks have been moved to Centerville Lake and that a good <br />viewing area would be at Trailside Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that he and Council Member Montain attended the Centennial Lakes Police <br />Governing Board meeting on Monday evening and that the Chief understands Council’s <br />conservativeness with the budget while ensuring all needs are met for public safety and the <br />department. He stated that they are discussing an emergency notification system similar to an <br />Amber Alert System is beginning for extreme emergencies and not paid for by the communities <br />but through property taxes through Anoka County. Discussions also took place regarding several <br />web sites where residents can go to retrieve essential information regarding weather or <br />emergency preparedness (NOAA -www.weather.gov and ReadyGov https://www.ready.gov/). <br /> <br />Mayor Paar desired to have additional discussions regarding the City’s role in Emergency <br />Management and felt that a work session should be had to ensure that the City is prepared. <br />Mayor Paar reported that the budget for 2018 decreased by .7% and Centerville’s portion would <br />remain level, that the formula is calculated on calls, population, types of calls and reviewed <br />every three years. He briefly discussed replacement of squad cars and replacement schedules as <br />it can vary due to damage or repairs and the current use of body cameras with future technology <br />Page 8 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
