City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> August 23,2017 <br /> Mayor Paar stated that Chief Lundstrom is concerned about morale; however there is a great deal <br /> of pride in the members and you can tell that by the clean equipment, buildings, etc. <br /> Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Koski to Approve the <br /> Centennial Fire District 2018 Budget as Presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> 3. Hiring of Cleaning Services for City Hall & P.W. @ $12.00/hr Not to Exceed 10 <br /> hrs./Two Weeks <br /> Mayor Paar stated that Mr. Solheid resigned his position to take care of his ailing wife. City <br /> Attorney Glaser stated that this position at this rate would be cost neutral and would no affect the <br /> budget. <br /> Motion made by Council Member Koski, seconded by Council Member Montain to <br /> Authorize Filling a Janitorial Position for $12/hr Not to Exceed 10 hrs./two Weeks. <br /> Additional discussion ensued regarding the potential for a candidate if they desired to not only <br /> fill the position of Janitor but Part-Time, Temporary Office Assistant, concern for taking away <br /> from duties of each position, potential for an individual to apply for both positions and the need <br /> for keeping duties and responsibilities separated and the Janitorial position being on a regular <br /> basis where the Part-Time Office Assistant is a temporary position. <br /> All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> 4. City Administration Hiring Process <br /> Mayor Paar stated that Administrator Ericson retired from his position of City Administrator <br /> affective August 18, 2017 and Council would be discussing additional items associated with that <br /> separation at the Closed Executive Session. <br /> City Attorney Glaser stated that Staff is seeking Council direction regarding the hiring process, <br /> salary range, posting for the position, processes to allow for anonymity of those who are not <br /> selected for an interview, etc. He also stated that the Personnel Board could collect resumes, <br /> honor candidates desires to remain confidential, rate candidates and narrow the field assisting <br /> Council in their decision making process. <br /> Lengthy discussion took place regarding the hiring of an Interim City Administrator, candidates <br /> and compensation; hiring of a Temporary Office Assistant; setting the pay scale for the City <br /> Administrator position of $90,000 to $110,000 and later discussing processes for applicants <br /> rating and interview selection associated with the hiring for the City Administrator position. <br /> Motion by Mayor Paar, seconded by Council Member King to Table this Item to the <br /> September 13, 2017 Meeting. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> 6. Part-Time Office Assistance <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br />
