City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> July 26,2017 <br /> Centennial Fire District to utilize the existing home for practice and future use/non-use of the <br /> residence and garage. <br /> Ms. Kathy Peil, Centennial Fire District Training Officer, stated that the District would utilize a <br /> smoke machine to simulate a real fire, breach walls, break doors and windows to practice <br /> ventilation along with cutting into the roof in several areas. The Fire District would like to <br /> utilize the building several weeks prior to the demolition if Council chose to have to building <br /> demolished. <br /> Mr. Mike Brass, Colliers (City's Property Broker) questioned the useful life of the existing home <br /> and garage, stated that several other parcels in the area may sell in the near future and develop as <br /> apartments or a restaurant. Mr. Brass stated that if the home and garage were removed <br /> something desirable may come to the parcel whereas if someone purchased it they more than <br /> likely would need to remove it at their expense. <br /> Lengthy discussion took place regarding what could be constructed on the two lots, the existing <br /> market, the potential for selling the existing home or donation of the home, costs associated with <br /> demolition, Staff research avenues for removal of the home and report back to Council as <br /> expenditures would affect the budget. Engineer Statz stated that a Request for Proposal could be <br /> drafted and forwarded to vendors which would allow staff the ability to provide cost information <br /> to Council for their consideration. Discussion ensued regarding the proper procedure for the sale <br /> of the home with the stipulation that the home must be removed and the need for Council <br /> approval in regards to such a transaction. <br /> Council censuses was that if the home and garage were to be demolished, the Centennial Fire <br /> District would be allowed to utilize it for training prior to demolition. <br /> 2. Discussion on 2017 Fete des Lacs Festival <br /> Administrator Ericson gave a brief overview of the events stating that it was very successful. <br /> Mayor Paar thanked the Lions, volunteers, staff and Kerri Kolstad for their efforts. <br /> Administrator Ericson stated that WSB (City's Comp. Plan) and Anoka County Parks (Master <br /> Plan) were both on hand to gain input from residents as this is vital to the community for future <br /> projects and projections. Administrator Ericson stated that there will be a post Festival meeting <br /> on August 7, 2017. <br /> Additional discussion ensued regarding an indoor band at Kelly's Korner, D. Love and his wife <br /> Susan be announcers for the parade, Kelly's Korner taking first place two (2) years in a row for <br /> their float in the parade, Administrator Ericson's efforts, turnout for Public Safety evening, good <br /> weather and looking forward to next year's festival. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that there was something for everyone this year with good weather and many <br /> events to participate in. He thanked all that were involved with every facet of organization, <br /> marketing, volunteering to setup. <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br />
