<br />City ofCentervil1e <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 19,2002 <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Nelson, seconded bv Council Member Capra to <br />approve Resolution #02-068 as presented. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimouslv. <br /> <br />6. Schedule for December 24,2002 <br /> <br />Motion bv Mavor Swedberg to give Staff December 24, 2002 off as a paid holidav. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she was asking Council for approval of a half day off as was <br />done last year. <br /> <br />The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson commented that there is a set holiday schedule and Council <br />should follow it. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded bv Council lVlember <br />Travis to give Staff a half-dav off for December 24, 2002. Aves - 4, Navs - 1 <br />(Nelson). Motion carried. <br /> <br />7. Resolution #02-069 <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated that the Police Commission needs to solve the health and <br />safety issues at the Police Department and that was unforeseen when the budget was put <br />together. He then read Resolution #02-069. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated that Centerville's share would be approximately $10,000 to <br />$15,000. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated the Fire Department sets a budget and stays within <br />that budget and does not come asking for more money but this is not the first time for the <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated this is completely unforeseen and the joint powers agreement <br />allows the authority to come to the individual City's for authority to spend outside of the <br />approved budget. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked if this is something needed right now. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated the health and safety issues need to be dealt with as they will <br />not be in compliance with OSHA. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Capra, seconded bv Mayor Swedberg to approve <br />Resolution #02-069 as presented. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra commented that the new Council would need to find the money <br />somewhere in the budget. <br /> <br />Page 9 of15 <br />
