<br />Other: Appointments to budgeted part-:time, seasonal, intP.ttn1ttent, and tempomty <br />positions mar be delegated to the City Administrator. <br />" " <br /> <br />4.5 Temporary Appo~tments. <br /> <br />Genem1: IT necessaty~ to prevent .intettuption of service or inconvenience to the <br />public, the City Council may approve tempomty appointments. A tempomty <br />appointment may be made for a specified period of time or may be open:-ended. <br />Vt7hen the appointment is open-ended, the City Administrator shall deteanine' the <br />endirig date based on needs of the City, subject to Council approval. Tempomty <br />appointments' will norma.11Y be of duration of six months or less. Extension of ~ <br />m~,nmum time period may be made on an exception basis if w~ted by the needs <br />of the, City and approved by the City Council. Appointees to tempomty positions <br />will not be entitled to benefits. <br /> <br />4.6 Pre-Employment Medical Exams <br /> <br />Applicability: The City may detP.rm1ne that a pre-employment medical p'ygm1ngtion <br />is necessaty to detetmine fitness for any City position. Where a medical eygm1n~tion <br />is required, the offer of employment shall be made contingent upon successful <br />completion of the medical exam. IT the City determines that pre-employment <br />medi~ exams wiD.. be required, they shall be reqtdred of all candidates who are <br />,conditionally offered employment for a given job class. <br /> <br />Confidentiality: The information obtained during the medical exam. shall be treated <br />in the same manner as for confidential medical records under the Minnesota Data <br />'. , <br />Practices Act and HIP AA regulations. <br /> <br />Exam: A licensed physician d-ig11~ted by the Employer shall conduct the exam. <br />The physician conducting the exam. shall be provided 'with a description of the duties <br />and responsibilities and other pertinent informatiOn about the position. The City <br />s~, pay the cost of the exam. The physician shall notify the City Adm1n1Rttator <br />whether or not a candidate is medically able to perform the job. <br /> <br />Notification of Results: The City Ad.:ministtator shall inform the candidates of the <br />results of their ~~m1n~tion. If a candidate is rejected for employment based on the <br />results, he or she shall be notified of this detP.1'm1ngtion and may request further <br />explanation from the physician.
