City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> January 24,2018 <br /> Council Member Koski withdrew his motion. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that the fees proposed for water meters reflect pricing adjustments of <br /> the City's vendor. <br /> 3. Res. #18-002— Sponsorship of Community Development Block Grant <br /> Administrator Statz stated that Council previously approved of the City's action to submit for a <br /> Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) associated with the proposed/contemplated <br /> downtown roadway reconstruction project which includes the installation of municipal water. <br /> He also stated that the resolution is formal and required by the submittal. <br /> Administrator Statz reported that the roadway portion of the project would cost approximately <br /> $900,000 for a full reconstruction. He stated that the Roadway Fund balance is healthy with no <br /> projects scheduled for two (2) years. Budgeted amounts of $200,000 from the General Fund, <br /> franchise fees and State Aid would allow the City to pay cash for the project in 2019. He <br /> reported that the 2020 budgeted amount would allow the fund to recover before an additional <br /> project is needed. <br /> Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Love to Adopt Res. <br /> #18-002 — Sponsorship of Community Development Grant as Presented. All in favor. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. Review of Local Water Plan <br /> Previously addressed. <br /> 2. Social Media Policy <br /> Administrator Statz stated that several members of Council have desired to have a more robust <br /> social media presence and measures needed to be in place to allow that. He stated that Intern <br /> Mansara began constructing a City Facebook page and Staff would like to take that project live. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that the policy that is before Council has been modified for <br /> Centerville's usage from the League of MN Cities. He also stated that Attorney Glaser has <br /> reviewed the policy. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding Facebook being a"one way" conversation allowing for Staff to post <br /> information only, beginning small and seeing where it will take the City and further review of <br /> items of posting. <br /> Council thanked Administrator Statz and Attorney Glaser for their work on the policy. <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br />
