City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> February 28,2018 <br /> Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Koski to Approve <br /> Submitted Bid from Olson Sewer for By-Pass Services for Lift Station #2 Repairs in an <br /> Amount of$14,185.68. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> 1. Monthly Administrator's Report <br /> Administrator Statz questioned whether Council had questions regarding his submitted update. <br /> No Council Members had questions. He stated that Mr. Pete Johnson has submitted his <br /> resignation from the Planning & Zoning Commission, attempting to build community <br /> involvement and continues to make strides with the City's Facebook page. He reported that the <br /> page is public but desires to ensure that the site is credible from the beginning which may be <br /> slower than Council would desire. <br /> Council Member King stated that Comcast has submitted their franchise renewal documents and <br /> the City had received $13,940.64 in franchise fees for 2017. <br /> Council Member Love stated that he recently attended a League of MN Cities Insurance Trust <br /> event where lengthy discussion was had regarding the impacts that driverless vehicles will have <br /> on municipalities and that it is estimated that they will be available within five (5) years as most <br /> functions are already installed on most new vehicles. Council Member Love stated that <br /> municipalities should be considering these impacts within their Comprehensive Plans and future <br /> development. Mayor Paar stated that recently the Centennial School District purchase a wireless <br /> Zamboni with the water applications being guided by lasers. Council Member Koski stated that <br /> heavy equipment can now be controlled by computers and satellites. Lengthy discussion ensued <br /> regarding parking needs, etc. caused by these types of innovations (ubers, shuttles, driverless <br /> vehicles, etc.) <br /> Mayor Paar stated that he and Administrator Statz would be attending a luncheon with other <br /> local city officials tomorrow which allows for each to share and update each other on projects <br /> that are being completed. He also stated that he attended a legislative breakfast on February 15, <br /> 2018 where Superintendent Dietz, Congressman Rick Nolan, Senator Roger Chamberlain, <br /> Representative Linda Runbeck were all in attendance and discussion was held regarding school <br /> funding formulas and inequities in districts. He reiterated that people need to contact their <br /> representatives regarding the issue and that he would be bringing more information forward as <br /> obtained. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that the Shake Your Shamrock event is taking place on Saturday, March 17, <br /> 2018, registration is at Midwest Events and Kelly's Korner is the sponsor. He reminded <br /> residents to clear their hydrants, of the Centerville Lions Cadillac Dinner, that "flushable wipes" <br /> are not flushable and thanked the Centerville Lions for another great fishing contest. Mayor Paar <br /> thanked Mr. Pete Johnson for serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission and requested that <br /> residents keep the Cardinal family in their prayers. <br /> Page 6 of 7 <br />
