It was very helpful having
former Mayors Buckbee and Wllharber attend the meeting
and listening to their comments and Insights. I will try to accurately capture citizen
concerns in a question and answer format as well as other comments I have re-
ceived to date.

The Goals Process

Q. Why are you asldng for all this Input?
A. The simple answer is Council wants to know what is important to you. With
your input we can make the right choices.

Q. Are you following a process for determining these goals?
A. Yes, absolutely. The process began after Christmas when 4 members of Coun-
cil, City Administrator, Public Works Director, and members of the city advisory
committees gathered to brainstorm ideas. In January, those ideas were lumped and
ranked into common themes. In February, the Council visited every committee
and asked for feedback. On March 19, the draft proposal was sent to every com-
mittee. Council, and staff for comment. The April 7 and 10 meetings were de-
signed to inform the public and seek your feedback. All along the way - over the
past 3 months -- the process has been brainstorm, summarize, seek comment, and
adjust the goals based on comments. Most important, this has been a process that
sought the input from everyone who wished to comment.

Q. What Is the next step In this process?
A. Council will hold a budget workshop on April 24 to look at the existing budget
and identify existing funds that can be used to implement the goals. Then a
final document will be prepared after all the input is gathered and Council will
vote on the proposals. The timeframe for a vote would be the first Council
meeting In May.

2

3
7

(Notehookconttnued on page 4)

II

lt Is wIth (Il'eat sadness as well as great Joy that 1 complete tltls
final Issue of the l.e Journal. )ffter wrltlngl7r1enfJIlssues. lltave
decided to take early retIrement to pursue other endeavors. 1 will
treasure tlte memorIes of meetIng so many of you In our communIty
that 1 may not have met had 1 not been allowed tlte opportunIty of
tltts newsletter. 1 look forward to contrIbutIng my talents and en-
erfl1llnto other areas of Centervllle actlvltlesl 'PatrIcIa Scott
