<br /> <br />Parks and <br />Recreation <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg <br />and City Council <br />Members appeared <br />at February's Parks <br />and Recreation <br />meeting. Mayor Swedberg requested <br />that Parks and Rec. partner with <br />neighboring communities and set up pr0- <br />grams for the yoUth during the summer <br />months. He stated that people would <br />pay for programs for their kids and that <br />we (the City) need to show people that <br />their money is being used in many ways <br />and that things could be done for little <br />money. Swedberg also sugested that <br />trails don't necessarily need to be paved <br />and maybe money could be saved by <br />.. ",roviding trails using compacted gravel <br />e encouraged that small projects need <br />:,;0 be accomplished. Before departing <br />from the meeting, Swedberg requested <br />that Parks and Rec., "Be thorough, don't <br />hesitate and get things done." <br />Parks and Rec. have purchased uni- <br />form jackets to identify committee mem- <br />bers and skating rink attendants. The <br />committee members paid for their own <br />jackets. <br />Discussions have begun regarding <br />Earth Day on April 21 and plans are un- <br />derway to generate involvement within <br />Centerville in addition to the County's <br />activities held at Wargo Nature Center. <br /> <br />Park and Rec. meetings are scheduled <br />the first Wednesday of each month <br />at 6:30 p.rn. at City Hall and <br />open to the public. <br /> <br />City Council Update <br />Keep informed as to what the City <br />of Centerville does by attending City <br />Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th <br />i' ~,~~ ednesday of each month at 6:30 p.rn. <br />'~:rtings are broadcast live on Channel <br />10 and replayed throughout the month. <br />For further information, please con- <br />tact City Hall at 429-3232 or stop in <br />Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.rn. <br /> <br />Public Works <br />The City of Centerville wel- <br />comes Joel McPherson to the <br />.",::..;> Public Works Department. <br />=- Joel previously worked for the <br />St. Paul Public Works in various depart- <br />ments for seven years. <br />Joel resides in North Branch with <br />his wife Marla and two month old daugh- <br />ter Samantha.
