Printed In November 1987, the QTY
OF CENTERVlUE. NEWSLETTER #87-1, was typed on bath sides
of a sheet of paper, copied on the photocopier and mailed to
Centerville residentS from City Hall, which was then located at
1694 Sorel Street.
The newsletter Included meeting dates;
an announcement that on October 14,
1987, the CIty Coundl voted to order the
municipal water system, far direct use by
the L'AIlier Estates II and Centerville
Heights developments; various updates on
new developments; dog license fees; re-
quest for volunteers at the hockey rink; announcement of Greg
Weiss as the new owner of Kelly's Bar, and the name change to
Greg's Centerville Lounge; request for more firefighters; Anoka
County Traveler.beglns services; sewer billing update; and a re-
quest for residentS to serve on the School Bus Task Force.
As you can see. some of the infarmation continues to re-
main the same 14 years later, but thanks to technology and com- .
merdal development etc., you now receive a multiple page news-
letter with photo's, graphics, stories of local interest and com-
plete with advertising from many of the wonderful businesses In
our area that are here to serve your needsl
The Le Journal is published monthly and distributed at
several businesses in Centerville and is mailed to
residents along with the RecycllnB Pride quar-
terly.
Please contact PatrIcia at City Hall with newsworthy items
of Centerville (past & present & future) far consideration in an
upcoming issue.
Thank you far your support throughout 2000 to make the
Le Journal a successful vehicle to relay Information within our
community.

...

""" ~
f'0(~

1>~'41>~.e V4tw

jnto a new year, with New Resolutions to keep far a week or twol Eat
healthier, quit smoking. be more organized, spend more time with
whomever....... Whatever your traditional resolutions might be, per-
haps extending kindness to your neighbor, a shut-in, even someone you don't
know might be something to consider this year.
Last year, Michael Zwicki, a new resident of Centerville, as well as Anoka
County and a new paraplegic as of Christmas Eve 1998, requested help from the
City. He and. his wife built a handicap accessible home on Meadow Court, how-
ever, the deep dip In his driveway prevented him from safely leaving his yard in his
electric wheelchair. ArrangementS were made with Tri-State Bobcat to donate a
curb-milling machine, Centerville Redi Mix provided asphalt and some staff mem-
bers provided the labor to provide safe access for Mr. Zwick! to leave his yard and
do something as simple as retrieve his mail. As I was told last year by someone I
didn't know, "We have to watch out far one another." How true that is.
Volunteer your time/talent; contribute to the food shelf; help a neighbor with
yard work; bring a meal or a gift certificate to a single mom or dad.. ...Some people .
who need help don't ask.....take it upon yourself to offer assistance. And that
falks, is just my point of ~I
