I\~' Parks and Recreation SubmittA!d by KDrfD DeVIne Centerville's Park and Rec. had a busy and productive year. Some of the major accomplishments and improve- ments for 2000 have been: new play- ground equipment at Royal Meadows Park; new benches; picnic tables and trash receptacles in all the parks, as well as new landscaping and trees. The LaMotte Park trail link to the Anoka County Park was completed this Fall, along with the trail through Acorn Creek Park. We improved the turf in a few parks and the baseball fields in Laurie laMotte Park were also com- pleted. We would like to thank every- one who had volunteered their time and services to help us accomplish these goals. Some of our major goals for this year are to build a skate park in Laurie Lamotte Park and to blacktop the parking lot. We have planned to make improvements and repairs in all the parks. This year we hope to have planned activities for Earth Day. We have four RFamily SkateR nights planned at the ice rink at Laurie LaMotte Park. BrIng your family down and join us for complimentary hot chocolate, juice and popcorn on Janu- ary 14th and 27th, and February 11th and 25th. The Rfamily SkateR runs from 4:00-6:00 pm. Ground breaking has occurred for their new location, across Peterson Trail on Main Street. A proposed 3,000 square foot facility is proposed. Owner, Katie Erickson, is very excited to have the opportunity to offer more, expanded services to our community. A full service spa environment with a fireplace and waterfall is being designed. The purchase of more tan- ning beds to accommodate their grow- ing requests is also planned. Since HaIr Update and Tanning opened in Center- ville, their business grew considerably. in the first month. EDC EDC meetings are scheduled at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at City Hall. Meetings are open to the pubnc. They employ twelve people, in- duding NAIL and FACIAL specialists and have just recently moved their Forest Lake stylists to Centerville. RCenterville is a prime location for businessesR, Katie commented. Hair Update and Tanning opened in Stacy, 9 years ago and then moved to Hugo. Looking for a more up-to-date facility, they chose to have Uoyd Drilling cus- tomize a facility for them in Center- ville. Pure Hair and Aveda, are just some of the many products they offer for sale, including many tanning accel- erators and lotions. Stop by and check It out. Besides taking appointments they also take drop-lns. Planning and Zoning Planning and Zoning meetings are scheduled on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm at City Hall. The public Is invited to attend.
