Just a <br />couple of miles east of <br />Centerville, north of County <br />Road 14, owner Charles Votel <br />takes great pride in the apples <br />he grows. Vote I started the <br />orchard in 1990 hand planting <br />300 new trees in addition to the <br />12 existing apple trees. More <br />trees were planted the following <br />year and today the orchard <br />consists of over 20 varieties and <br />2,000 apple trees. <br />The vision of an apple <br />orchard began in Votel's boy- <br />hood years. Extensive research <br />and planning went into the <br />orchard before becoming a real- <br />ity. Vote I maintains a well- <br />groomed and sanitized orchard, <br />resulting in a high quality apple <br />of great size. He is conservative <br />in the use of pesticides and uses <br />chemicals that are the least <br /> <br />intrusive not only to the apple, <br />but the environment as well. <br />The apples are not <br />treated, processed or waxed <br />and available at reasonable <br />prices.
