Council Members <br /> <br />The City of Centerville would like to announce new council <br />members' Dick Travis and Mari Nelson, took the oath of office' <br />. on Wednesday, January 13, 1999. Both council members will <br />serve a four-year term. Councilmember Terry' Sweeney was <br />sworn in during the December 7, 1998 councilmeetlng. We would <br />like to welcome you aboard and to thank you. <br /> <br /> <br />New Amendment <br /> <br />In an effortto improve attendance of council members at meetings, the City <br />'Council unanimo'U'slyvoted on December 21 to change the way they are <br />. compensated. Before the change, the mayor was paid a salary of $225 per <br />month and council members received $150 per month, even if.they missed <br />meetings. The change will not increase their monthly pay. Rather, officials will <br />. receive pay-per-meeting attended,and a reduced salary. The new policy states <br />the following: . <br />''The salary for mayor is hereby established at $100 per month plus an <br />additional $62.50 per meeting attended, not to exceed a total monthly <br />salary of $225 per month.
