It is Published in Coopera-
tion With the Circle Pines - Lexington
Police Department

The first step has been taken but to date we do not
have all the results in as to what the Senior Citizens of
the community desire.
With that in mind we will try again to give you a short
but up to date Newsletter That has the Fifty and older
in mind.
Many news items Letters and Meetings have been
__ screened and we hope that we have been able to ex-
tract information you would like to see in future edi-
tions.
The current goal is still to promote through the con-
cept of TRIAD, the development of a Life Line be-
tween the retirees, thC seniors, the community ,
AARP and all law enforcement agencies in the area.
"Improved communications must be made to cement
the communities together for the good of all.
Our address is as follows - Tri - City TRIAD, Circle
Pines - Lexington Police Dept. - 200 Civic Heights
Circle, Circle Pines, MN. 55014.
Please feel assured your c:all will be appreciated.

Who Carries Out TRIAD Activities

Who Pays For These Programs and
Who Designs The Programs

In each community the S.A.L.T. Council acts as an
advocacy/advisory group and provides a forum for the
exchange of information between seniors and lawen-
forcement.
Programs designed by the senior groups themselves
are supported by all agencies to the extent that bud-
gets allow, other sources of funding would be by d0-
nations or fund raisers initiated by the senior groups
themselves.(many examples are available to look at -
also to be noted is the Bureau Of Justice, Washington
D.C., has funds available which can be applied for.
Council members are a valuable source of input and
should be c:alled on for assistance. They can assist in
determining the concerns of the community's senior
population, assess the availability of existing services
and programs for the elderly, and recommend addi-
tional strategies. S.A.L.T. Council members may also
take part in the crime prevention and victim assistance
portions of the TRIAD program, and help to identify
potential volunteers to carry out TRIAD activities.

-

1
