The alternative to bulky purses will be free
- but only after the women have taken part in a
personal safety class taught by police officers.
Crime prevention education, as well as a safer
way to carry money, will be offered at senior cen-
ters and retirement homes.

Detective Dave Goracke, who devised the plan to
combat purse theft, can be reached at the Wheat
Ridge Police Department, 7500 W. 29th Avenue,
Wheat Ridge, Colorado, 80215 or (303) 237-
2220.

OLDER DRIVER FACTS

=> Older drivers tend to drive on city streets
where the collision rate is 7 times higher
than on interstates.
=> The most common type of crashes older
driven are involved in include: left turns
at a traffic light; failure to yield the right
of way; and failure to stop at a stop sign!
=> According to the American Medical Asso-
ciation, the eye's reaction time slows as a
person ages.
