We also welcole newly <br />appointed Kil Sanborn and Paul Hontain to the Centerville <br />Iconolic Developlent Task Force. We look forward to working <br />with all of you in 1991! <br /> <br />BUSINISS PERSON 0' THE YEAR AWARD - When reviewing the nOlinees <br />for Citizen of the Year the Centerville Econolic Developlent <br />Task Force noted that there appeared to be two categories, <br />business persons and resident volunteers. It lias decided <br />that the Business Person of the Year Award would be <br />presented based upon how that business had contributed to <br />the cOllunity through jobs, housing opportunities, increased <br />revenues (tax base), grollth and enhancelent of overall <br />develoPlent. The nOlinees were: Kent Roessler, Gerald <br />Rehbein, and Harcel Rivard. <br /> <br />Tbe 1990 recipient is Kent Roessler. SOle of Hr. Roessler's <br />aceolplishlents are: built lany of the bOles in Center Oaks <br />I (1986), developed and built 46 hOles in Center Oaks II <br />(1981), developed and built Centerville Plaza (1988/, <br />designed and built Eagle Trucking office addition (1988), <br />built 29 hOles in Hardwood Pond Estates I (1989), building <br />15 hOles in Hardwood Pond Estates II (19901, building 29 <br />hOles in Center Hills First Addition (1990), and is <br />proposing to build a 96 unit town hOle project in the <br />proposed Golden Meadows developlent. <br /> <br />WALTIR NIDMANN - Council lelber Walter Neulann did not run for <br />re-election in 1990. His terl expired on Decelber 31, 1990. <br />Although Hr. Heulann has not been in the best health, he is <br />rapidly recuperating and we expect hil to becole active <br />again in the near future. Walt, keep ilproving, we'll liss <br />you as Council lelber. Thank you for all your hard work and <br />dedication. <br /> <br />CITIIII or THI YIAR AWARD - 1990 larked the first year of this <br />annual event. The allard is based upon significant past and <br />current contributions to the City of Centerville. lOlinees <br />were: lorl fritchie, Leon L'Allier, Walter Keulann, Marcel <br />Rivard and TOI Wilharber. <br /> <br />The recipient of the 1990 award is Harcel Rivard. Mr. <br />Rivard served as the youngest Hayor in Minnesota in his two <br />consecutive terls frol 1952 - 1957. He again served as <br />Mayor frol 1970 - 1972. SOle other volunteer services have <br />been: Council lelber (1967-1969), Health Officer (1955), <br />Chairlan and Melber of Municipal Sewer COllittee (1972- <br />1976), Park and Recreation COllittee (1977-1984), charter <br />melber and Volunteer Fire fighter (29 years), Boy Scouts <br />coordinator, President Centerville Athletic Association and <br />Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters. <br /> <br />HOMINEES FOR 1991 AWARDS - Applications to nOlinate your <br />candidate for Citizen or Business Person of the Year for <br />1991 are available at City Hall. Applications will be taken <br />until October 1, 1991. <br /> <br />HOlICIPAL 'ACILITIIS - The City Council has received a <br />feasibility study frol Carlstrol ~panies. The study <br />addresses current and proposed facilities. <br /> <br />CIRCLE PIKES - LEXINGTON POLICI DIPARTMENT - Beginning January 1, <br />1991 you will be seeing lany new faces in Centerville. The <br />Circle Pines - Lexington Police Departlent will be providing <br />police services to Centerville in 1991 and 1992.
