No fence, wall or hedge along the sides or front <br />edge of any front yard shall be more than four feet in height.* <br />Property owners are discouraged from putting a fence within any <br />easement area, as it is the owners responsibility for removal/ <br />replacement of such fence each time that it must be moved for <br />access to the easement. <br /> <br />BUILDING PERMITS - Required for decks, garages, storage shed <br />(over 120 sq. ft.), additions and interior remodeling or <br />finishing. Permits are available at City Hall. The violation <br />for not obtaining a permit prior to construction is a double <br />permit fee, per 1985 Minnesota State Building Code. If you have <br />any direct questions for the Building Inspector call 636-5555. <br /> <br />OTHER PERMITS - Permits are also required for plumbing, heating, <br />and air conditioning additions or alterations. <br /> <br />CONTRACTORS LJCENSES - Per City Ordinance #31*, licensing and <br />bonding is required of individuals, firms, corporations, <br />contractors and subcontractors doing or performing work within <br />the City of Centerville. (This does not apply to property owners <br />performing their own work providing all provisions of the Uniform <br />Building Code are adhered to.) Please contact City Hall to <br />check to see if your contractor is licensed with the City. <br /> <br />HOUSE NUMBERS - Ordinance #4* requires that all buildings display <br />building numbers at least 4 inches in height, in contrasting <br />color to the base, and so placed to be easily seen from the <br />street. Many homes are in noncompliance to this ordinance. One <br />of the purposes of the ordinance is to facilitate quick arrival <br />of emergency vehicles to you and your neighbors. <br /> <br />DOG LICENSE - Dog licenses are required by Ordinance #24.* The <br />cost of the license is $10.00 and is in effect for the life of <br />the dog. <br /> <br />KENNEL LICENSE Ordinance #24* requires persons keeping (or <br />owning) more than two dogs over six months old to obtain a kennel <br />license. The kennel license is required in addition to the <br />individual dog licenses. Kennel licensing is subject to City <br />Council approval. <br />
