City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> August 8,2018 <br /> He also stated that the crew cleaned the ditch of vegetation and trees/shrubs. Discussion ensued <br /> regarding the quality of workmanship, year the structure was constructed and the need for <br /> additional attention being paid to these types of structures within new developments. <br /> Council Member Koski questioned Administrator Statz regarding a recent realtor approaching <br /> the City in regards to property owned by Mr. Gerald Rehbein which they posed a townhome <br /> development. Administrator Statz stated that the property is zoned Commercial with the <br /> intention that with all other residential development, retail would be extremely preferred in the <br /> area. <br /> Council Member Koski stated that the Council has discussed the Public Hearing that was held at <br /> P & Z with regards to the Old Mill Estates development. He stated that the Commission worked <br /> very hard on all issues, he felt that they provided great input and provided Council with an <br /> educated recommendation. <br /> Council Member Montain stated that he attended the Parks & Recreation Committee meeting <br /> where they discussed long-range capital improvements, reviewed Fete des Lacs and their <br /> vacancy. He also stated that he attended the Anoka County Fire Protection Council meeting. He <br /> stated that Anoka County received a grant allowing for the purchase of new pagers for <br /> firefighters. He also desired to thank all of public safety for their attendance and participation in <br /> Fete des Lacs. <br /> Mayor Paar reported that he and Administrator Statz attended a recent meeting at the City of <br /> Hugo. He stated that their Mayor was there along with The Citizen newspaper. He reported that <br /> they discussed growth, past and present projects, promotion of the communities, advertising <br /> devoted to commercial/industrial businesses, etc. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that he recently attended a Quad Area Chamber of Commerce meeting where <br /> they discussed promoting Centerville, businesses/retailers and he suggested a Taste of Quad <br /> Cities or something similar. He stated that he offered the use of LaMotte Park and reported <br /> information from the meeting to the City Administrator. <br /> Mayor Paar stated residents should leave their garbage container curbside as Waste Management <br /> would be retrieving them on Friday, August 10, 2018. He stated that the residents should <br /> continue to utilize the recycling container as the City owns these and Republic Services will <br /> continue to use them. He apologized that communication was not timely for residents and <br /> explained that due to the inability of the City to announce the starting of their services prior to a <br /> contract being signed which involved legal review and negotiations. He also reminded the <br /> audience of upcoming activities. <br /> Mayor Paar encouraged residents to listen to a local singer, Ms. Ali Hanzal who recently was <br /> signed to a record contract and her music is available on iTunes.
