City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> September 12,2018 <br /> Council Member King requested that this item be placed on the agenda due to the amount of <br /> publicity and lawsuits regarding Round Up and health effects. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding the City's use of these chemicals in the parks and previous <br /> discussions regarding the use of alternative weed eradicator. Administrator Statz stated that the <br /> Public Works Department has been utilizing alternative methods for weed control within the <br /> playground areas. Administrator Statz also stated that when staff requests RFPs for weed control <br /> for the upcoming year, we will receive bids for alternative methods. <br /> X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Mayor Paar stated that Council Members received the Administrator's report via email prior to <br /> the meeting. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that he has updated his format by placing items that he desires to leave <br /> on the list that have no update in gray and new items are in regular font. He also stated that he <br /> had attended a recent networking event held by the Quad Area Chamber of Commerce. <br /> Council Member Love thanked the Planning & Zoning Commissioners for their hard work this <br /> month and stated that the City appreciates their efforts. <br /> Council Member Koski stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission held a public hearing <br /> regarding the potential to amend Alex's Turf and Landscaping's Conditional Use Permit to allow <br /> for 24 exterior storage bins. It was stated that 15 residents attended and eight (8) spoke with <br /> concerns regarding noise violations. He stated that the item was tabled for additional discussion <br /> and information. <br /> He also stated that discussion was had regarding possible mini-storage for the vacant parcel <br /> across from the Creative Kids Day Care (Lessard property). He stated that the parcel is zoning <br /> B-1 Commercial and mini-storage is zoned for I-1 Industrial. <br /> Council Member Montain stated that he was unable to attend the Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> meeting, but Movie in the Park is scheduled for September 22, 2018 at Laurie LaMotte Park and <br /> Peter Rabbit will be showing. <br /> Mayor Paar reminded residents about blowing their grass clippings into the street pollutes the <br /> lakes and streams so please either cut your yard so as not to blow the clippings into the roadway <br /> or sweep after cutting. He also reminded residents of recycling opportunities and coupons for <br /> Green Lights Recycling of Blaine on October 13, November 10 and December 8, 2018. <br /> Mayor Paar reported that he be participating in a National Guard send off on September 20, 2018 <br /> with 3,000 soldiers.
