COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS
City Administrator Statz stated that we do have a Public Hearing scheduled for July 31, 2018's P
& Z meeting for the Fisher/Fruth property which will be the third project in process. He stated
that Sharper Communities have yet to start construction and he believes that they may be
devoting their time to another development along with financial constraints.
He stated that Mrs. Patricia Clearence resigned her position with her last day being July 6 and
welcomed Bruce to the City. He also stated that he would like Council to consider a permanent
part-time Receptionist position for 2019. He reported that at Council's next Work Session they
would be discussing the 2019 budget. City Administrator Statz also reported that he had spoken
to an individual regarding work-force housing/affordable housing in the downtown; (multi-story
condo/apartments), with a mix of housing price ranges and is excited and a good opportunity for
redevelopment. He stated that at Council's next meeting discussion would take place regarding
asbestos removal from 1737 Main Street in preparation for demolition. He reported that the
Public Works Department had recently changed lightbulbs in the downtown area, that every
other one turns on in the evening and that one summer worker resigned and a replacement was
found almost immediately.
Council Member Koski stated that he attended the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting the
previous evening.
Council Member Montain stated that newly promoted Sargent Giese has been awarded the
American Legion Officer of the Year award, that a 2019 budget has been reviewed with shows
an overall budget increase of.3% with Centerville's portion down from past years and that he is
unable to attend the Parks & Recreation Committee meeting as it is taking place in the other
room this evening.
Mayor Paar thanked Council Member Montain for attending the Police Steering Committee, he
reported that the Fire 2019 budget has been presented with a slight increase but public safety's
overall budget is offset somewhat by the police's budget being down. He stated that Night to
Unite is August 7, 2018 for new residents interested in holding a block party he suggested that
they contact the Centennial Lakes Police Department. He also stated that filing for office will
take place July 31, 2018-August 14, 2018 with the Mayoral seat and two (2) Council Member
seats open. He reported that he attended a laser shooting simulation put on by the Police
Department and he suggested that members of Council participate next year as it tests your
abilities to make decisions on the fly similar to police officers on the job. Mayor Paar also
stated that an article of a local family completing mission work was a great story in the recent
editions of the Quad and Citizen papers. He stated that the City was proud to have them as
members of the City.
