City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 12, 2019 <br /> <br />was the 2020 Census and the importance of all being counted. Administrator Statz stated that City <br />Clerk Bender was the point person and is working closely with Anoka County GIS Department as <br />they are handling the majority of tasks associated with working with the Census Bureau. She also <br />reported that the Circle Pines library is now open follow a recent renovation. <br /> <br />Council Member Love thanked Mayor Paar for attending Memorial Day services at St. <br />Genevieve’s Cemetery. Council Member Love also stated that the EDA meeting is scheduled for <br />June 19, 2019 and he would be attending. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski stated that he had attended the June 4, 2019 Planning & Zoning <br />Commission meeting where Small Wireless was discussed along with a concept plan for both an <br />th <br />assisted living facility along Main Street and a mini-storage facility along 20 Avenue were <br />discussed. He stated that he attended the same meeting Council Lakso attended and stated the <br />importance of a proper count due to funding and number of delegates. Administrator Statz thanked <br />the Planning & Zoning Commission for attending two (2) special meetings in the last two (2) <br />months. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that he attended the Local Government Officials meeting recently where <br />discussions were held regarding light rail, aging demographics for Anoka County, and reminded <br />residents that the 2020 Census is critical to all communities as it determines the amount of funding <br />available (Local Government Aid, Highway Funding, etc.) for the community/county. Mayor Paar <br />stated that the Metropolitan Council representative for Centerville and Lino Lakes was on hand <br />and he stated that he would be attending an upcoming Council meeting. Mayor Paar stated that he <br />and Administrator Statz attended a Quad Area Chamber Lunch and Learn recently at the Wargo <br />Nature Center. He stated that he had forgotten what a wonderful place it was. Presentations were <br />given of Rice Creek Park Reserve and other parks within Anoka County. He stated that the Rice <br />Creek Park Reserve was 53,000 acres and a very popular attraction. Anoka County anticipates <br />expanding the boardwalk/dock area, play area and connecting to the CSAH 14 trail. He stated that <br />they also have plans for ADA compliancy and additional camping sites along with adding a fishing <br />pier near the beach. Canoeing and kayaking have become extremely popular for them. <br /> <br />He reminded residents of Music in the Park, that Midwest One Bank would be holding an open <br />house on June 14 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. He reported that he had completed another “Mayor’s <br />Minutes” which contained information about Fete des Lacs. He stated that Mr. Pat Branch (Race <br />Coordinator), Administrator Statz and Mr. Terry Sweeney (Centerville Lions) were all interviewed <br />regarding their respective roles during Fete des Lacs. He stated that once it is completed it will be <br />aired on Cable, Facebook and Twitter. He thanked North Metro TV for their services. He also <br />reminded residents that they could register for the Corn Hole Competition, Kickball, Parade, runs, <br />and canoe/kayak rates at Fetedeslacs.org. He thanked the Lions and all that are involved for their <br />hard work organizing the Festival. Mayor Paar also reported that he attended the Memorial Day <br />Services at St. Genevieve’s Cemetery and stated that he was honored to participate and thanked <br />those that were present and the Hugo American Legion for the presentation. <br /> <br />XI. ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Koski to Adjourn the <br />Council Meeting of June 12, 2019 at 8:45 p.m. All in favor.
